Copper Bracelet by Margot Copper

There is a permanence in the river that never stops flowing, year after year, smoothing everything it touches. This is the feeling I had in mind while intertwining these strands of copper together, over and over again, until they acquired that same soothing movement.

Each strand is hand-braided right here at my table, three lengths of copper wire connected together with the same pliers I have used for years, then finished by hand at each end. No bracelet is exactly the same. The intertwining always finds its own rhythm.

Roman soldiers wore copper into battle. Artisans have worn it to work for centuries, long before anyone called it wellness. The men who work with their hands have always sought it, and many still do.

I hope these bracelets will find someone who appreciates the little things.
